Going into marketing has given the alumn/student the advantage of joining a growing job market with high salaries and a great number of different roles within. In addition, the education of a Bachelor of Commerce degree brings is immense, with graduates able to perform in the roles not traditionally filled by marketers such as analysts, purchaser and, communications roles, among many others. With all the roles, it can be difficult for a marketer to stand out, especially when these roles have specific demands and marketing graduates may be competing with graduates of other specialties. The best way to invest ones time is to find what job is of greatest interest and invest time in enhancing skills in this area.This gives a marketer specialization, giving them edge over the competition in the job market and enables them to tailor their resume/cover letter for the specific job they want. While most certifications cost money, there are many sites dedicated to increasing knowledge in specific areas and free courses one can take to gain proficiency. Over the next few post we will detail common marketing roles and what resources can be accessed for free to help a marketer prepare for these roles.
